Foul Out Rule, Player behavior and Technical in HoopsFinder.com team battle

Foul Out Rule, Player behavior and Technical in HoopsFinder.com team battle

Version 2. | Updated as of August 13, 2025

Version 2 – This rule takes effect immediately. While most of our rules follow FIBA, certain HoopsFinder.com rules will override them. This final version (v2) replaces all previous versions, so past games will not be used as reference. Also, by joining hoopsfinder games, we assume that everyone on your team already read the rules. HoopsFinder is not a professional organization, and by joining our games, you understand that occasional rule oversights, lapses, or missed calls may happen as part of the experience.

10 Team foul rules in Team Battle of Hoopsfinder.com explained:

  1. Sportsmanship and respect are important when you join and play in the HoopsFinder.com community. If you are a hot-headed player or someone who easily gets offended, HoopsFinder.com is not for you. We created this community for recreational players to enjoy and share the game of basketball together peacefully.
  2. 10 team foul rule (FOUL OUT) – The player who commits the 10th foul and above will foul out /sub out of the current game cycle. And so on hanggang sa 11th foul pataas sa current game cycle lamang. Game cycle is defined as the current game only usually 10 mins (other games are 12 mins for semis). (and above 10 team fouls)
  3. FREE THROW on 10th team foul and above– 1 Free throw worth 2 points will be given to the offensive team. Rebounders will be present for both teams. Meaning, bibigyan ng isang freethrow ang player. May rebounder na sa lane space for both teams and we treat this as a normal freethrow with rebounder.
  4. Reinstate / Return Back to Game – A player who fouls out may return in the next game cycle, provided the current game cycle has already ended. IF the current game ended in overtime, the player can go back in the court. Meaning, kung nag overtime,  hindi na siya fouled out and pwede na uli pumasok sa overtime period kapag nag overtime yung game nila. (version 2 rules)
  5. OVERTIME rules –
    • a fouled out player can return back to the court if their game goes to overtime.  We will still manually count up to 10 team fouls during overtime but it will most likely not reach 10 as overtime uses usually 1 minute.
    • Penalty – automatic team penalty for both teams during overtime. This is Hoopsfinder rules.
    • organizers can implement a running time during overtime period as this is a papawis session if we see that we are extending the time alotted for the session. Hoopsfinder team call.
  6. Lack of players
    • In the event that the remaining players are only 4 in the court for a team as their other teammates have fouled out, they automatically lose the current game.
  7. Double Foul – if a double foul was called by the referee and a team before that already has a 9th foul, we will maintain fiba rules and it will NOT count as a team foul if it is a double foul. (you can search fiba rules or ask chatgpt)
  8. Technical Fouls – Referee can give out technical foul during a game cycle. 2 technical fouls accumulated by a player in a current game cycle, player will be subbed out and can no longer return in the current game cycle. Pwede pa ulit siya next game cycle. IF game goes to overtime, pwede na ulit pumasok yung player.
  9. Player behavior – When organizers, referees or gym officials see that the players are getting hot with each other, Hoopsfinder rules states that organizers, referees or gym officials can mandate a player to sub out for 2 minutes game-time to cool off. If it worsens, we can require the player to not enter the game totally. Meaning, nasa power na desisyon na ng hoopsfinder organizers, referee and gym owners if nakikita namin na kaylangan na isubout ang player para magpalamig muna.
  10. Summary: 5 team fouls penalty in normal game, 10 team fouls and above results to a foul out.

Reason for the 10 team foul Rule:
Our goal is to keep the game safe, enjoyable, and sportsmanlike. Through our HoopsFinder sessions, we’ve observed that when total fouls go beyond 10, the game tends to become overly physical — especially in a friendly papawis setting. To address this, we set a limit to help control the level of physicality. Also for technical, our aim is to control emotions on the court and to settle disputes properly. Referees, organizers and comittees are allowed to call technical.

At the end of the day, we’re all here to enjoy basketball, not to risk injury. We want everyone to leave the court safe and ready for work, school, and life the next day. This rule isn’t just about fouls — it’s about promoting sportsmanship, respect, and camaraderie within the HoopsFinder community.
